Africa's biggest hotels and casino operator Tsogo Sun on Tuesday announced the opening of its new boutique hotel - 54 on Bath‚ in Rosebank‚ Johannesburg.
In October last year‚ Tsogo Sun added the Rosebank node to its footprint through the acquisition of the Grace Hotel property and office buildings for R85m.
JSE-listed Tsogo Sun (TSH) has 14 casinos and more than 90 hotels in South Africa‚ Africa and the Seychelles.
The company’s key shareholders are Hosken Consolidated Investments‚ an investment holding company‚ and SABMiller. The remaining shareholding is held by various financial institutions and the general public.
Graham Wood‚ MD Tsogo Sun – Hotels‚ says the company is excited about its new‚ “unique” offering.
“54 on Bath promises a distinctive guest experience with exceptional attention to detail in an intimate‚ vibrant and energetic environment - an offering that assures that the diverse needs of the discerning business and leisure traveller will be fulfilled‚” Mr Wood says.
The hotel boasts 60 deluxe rooms‚ and 12 executive rooms.
Tsogo Sun used the services of Dubai-based Brash Brands to determine the vision of the new hotel.
According to Wood‚ as a Tsogo Sun hotel‚ 54 on Bath will benefit from the group’s investment strategy‚ and will remain innovative and unique in years to come.
Although the local hotel industry has been hard hit by a combination of overcapacity and a drop in demand from travellers‚ the company in May reported a 39% rise in revenue to R9bn for the year ended March.
